Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 and by the self-reproaching soul! 2 What, does man reckon We shall not gather his bones? 3 Yes. [We are] Able [even] to proportion his fingertips. 4 But man desires to persist in his evil ways. 5 He asks: "When will be this Day of Resurrection?" 6 When, then, the sight shall be confounded. 7 and the moon eclipsed, 8 and the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 on that Day will man say: “Whither the refuge?” 10 But there is nowhere to take refuge: 11 Upon that day the recourse shall be to thy Lord. 12 Then man will be told what he had sent ahead (of good) and what he had left behind. 13 Indeed, man shall be a witness against himself, 14 Whatever the excuses he may offer. 15 MOVE NOT thy tongue in haste, [repeating the words of the revelation:] 16 It's gathering and reciting is upon Us. 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation (by Us). 18 Then upon Us is its clarification [to you]. 19 Truly, you love immediate gain 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 How many faces will be refulgent on that Day, 22 Looking at their Lord (Allah); 23 and some faces will on that Day be gloomy, 24 Thou wilt know that some great disaster is about to fall on them. 25 Nay! When it comes up to the throat, 26 And there will be a cry, "Who is a magician (to restore him)?" 27 and he thinks that it is the parting 28 And the leg is wound about the leg, 29 To your Lord then will be the driving. 30
