Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 And I swear by the reproaching soul [to the certainty of resurrection]. 2 Does man think that We cannot [resurrect him and] bring his bones together again? 3 Yes indeed; We have the power to remould even his finger-tips. 4 But man desires to continue in sin. 5 He asks: “When will the Day of Resurrection be?” 6 So, when the sight shall be dazed, 7 And the moon is eclipsed 8 And the sun and the moon shall be joined. 9 Man will say on that Day, "Where is the [place of] escape?" 10 No, there shall be no (place of) refuge. 11 With thy Sustainer, on that Day, the journey's end will be! 12 On that Day the human shall be informed of his former and latter deeds. 13 But lo, man is well aware of himself, 14 Although he tender his excuses. 15 MOVE NOT thy tongue in haste, [repeating the words of the revelation:] 16 Indeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation. 17 Wherefore when We recite it, follow thou the reciting thereof. 18 and then, it will be for Us to make its meaning clear. 19 Nay, but ye do love the fleeting Now 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 Some faces will be radiant on that Day, 22 and look forward to receiving mercy from their Lord. 23 And some faces, that Day, will be sad and dismal, 24 knowing that a crushing calamity is about to befall them. 25 Yes indeed, when the soul will reach up to the throat. 26 and people ask, "Is there any wizard [that could save him]?" 27 and when he thinks it is the time of departure 28 and leg is intertwined with leg, 29 Unto thy Lord that day will be the driving. 30
