Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 And I call the reprehensive soul to witness: 2 What, does the human think We shall never gather his bones? 3 Yes indeed; We have the power to remould even his finger-tips. 4 Nay! (Man denies Resurrection and Reckoning. So) he desires to continue committing sins. 5 He asketh: When will be this Day of Resurrection? 6 When the eye is bewildered, 7 And the moon is eclipsed 8 and the sun and the moon are brought together 9 On that Day shall man say: whither is the fleeing. 10 Certainly not! There will be no place of refuge. 11 With thy Sustainer, on that Day, the journey's end will be! 12 Man shall on that day be informed of what he sent before and (what he) put off. 13 nay, man shall be a clear proof against himself, 14 Whatever the excuses he may offer. 15 [Prophet], do not move your tongue too fast in your attempt to learn this revelation: 16 Surely it is for Us to have you commit it to memory and to recite it. 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation. 18 Then Ours it is to explain it. 19 None except you, O disbelievers – you love what you have, the fleeting one. 20 And leave alone the Hereafter. 21 (Some) faces on that day shall be bright, 22 looking up to their Sustainer; 23 And on that Day there shall be scowling faces, 24 knowing that a crushing calamity is about to befall them. 25 But when [man's soul] reaches the throat, 26 and it is said: 'Who is a healing chanter' 27 and when he thinks it is the time of departure 28 And one shank is entangled with the other shank. 29 To your Lord then will be the driving. 30
