Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching person (a believer). 2 Does man imagine that We will not be able to bring his bones together again? 3 Yes indeed; We have the power to remould even his finger-tips. 4 Yet man wants to deny what is ahead of him: 5 He questions: "When is the Day of Resurrection?" 6 Yet when the eyes are dazzled, 7 And the moon will be eclipsed. 8 And the sun and moon will be joined together (by going one into the other or folded up or deprived of their light, etc.) 9 on that Day the human will ask: 'To (which place) shall I flee' 10 Alas! No refuge! 11 on that Day, to your Lord alone is the recourse. 12 On that Day will man be apprised of his deeds, both the earlier and the later. 13 Nay, man will be evidence against himself, 14 even though he might make up excuses. 15 MOVE NOT thy tongue in haste, [repeating the words of the revelation:] 16 It is for Us to collect it and to promulgate it: 17 Therefore when We have recited it, follow its recitation. 18 And thereafter verily upon us is the expounding thereof. 19 Nay! But you love the present life, 20 and are oblivious of the Hereafter. 21 Upon that day faces shall be radiant, 22 Waiting for their Lord. 23 And [some] faces, that Day, will be contorted, 24 Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking. 25 No indeed; when it reaches the clavicles 26 And there will be a cry, "Who is a magician (to restore him)?" 27 and he thinks that it is the parting 28 And one leg will be joined with another: 29 at that time towards thy Sustainer does he feel impelled to turn! 30
