Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 Nay! I swear by the self-accusing soul. 2 Does man think that We cannot assemble his bones? 3 Yea! WE are Able to put together evenly his finger-tips. 4 Yet man is sceptical of what is right before him. 5 He asks: When is the day of resurrection? 6 When the eye is bewildered, 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 And sun and moon are united, 9 On that day man will cry out, “Where shall I flee?” 10 No! There is no refuge! 11 Unto thy Lord is the recourse that day. 12 That Day will Man be told (all) that he put forward, and all that he put back. 13 But lo, man is well aware of himself, 14 even though they make excuses. 15 MOVE NOT thy tongue in haste, [repeating the words of the revelation:] 16 Verily upon us is the collecting thereof and the reciting thereof. 17 When We have recited it, follow its words attentively; 18 Then upon Us is its clarification [to you]. 19 Nay, (ye men!) but ye love the fleeting life, 20 and leave be the Hereafter. 21 Countenances on that Day shall be resplendent, 22 and look forward to receiving mercy from their Lord. 23 Others will be despondent, 24 believing that a crushing calamity is about to strike them. 25 By no means! When it cometh up to the collar-bone. 26 and the angels say, "Who will take away his soul, 27 And he will realise that this is the parting. 28 And leg will be joined with another leg (shrouded) 29 On that Day you will be driven to your Lord. 30
