Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 No! I swear by the reproachful soul. 2 Deemest man that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Surely yes, why not? We can properly make all his phalanxes. 4 Aye! man desireth that he may sin before him. 5 He asks, “When will be the Day of Resurrection?” 6 So when vision is dazzled 7 And the moon will be eclipsed, 8 when the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 On that day man will cry out, “Where shall I flee?” 10 No, there shall be no (place of) refuge. 11 unto thy Lord that Day is the recourse. 12 Upon that day man shall be told his former deeds and his latter; 13 He shall be a clear proof against himself, 14 Though he may put forth his excuses (to cover his evil deeds). 15 Stir not thy tongue herewith to hasten it. 16 It's gathering and reciting is upon Us. 17 Wherefore when We recite it, follow thou the reciting thereof. 18 Nay more, it is for Us to explain it (and make it clear): 19 Not [as you think, that you (mankind) will not be resurrected and recompensed for your deeds], but (you men) love the present life of this world, 20 And leave (neglect) the Hereafter. 21 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 22 gazing towards their Lord. 23 And that day will other faces be despondent, 24 certain of facing a great calamity. 25 But, when (the soul) reaches the collar bone 26 And they will say, “Is there any one – any magician?” 27 and he knows that it is the time of parting; 28 And one shank is entangled with the other shank. 29 To your Lord then will be the driving. 30
