Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 No! I swear by the reproachful soul. 2 What, does the human think We shall never gather his bones? 3 Indeed, We have the power to restore his very finger tips! 4 Yet man is sceptical of what is right before him. 5 He questions: "When is the Day of Resurrection?" 6 When the sight is dazed, 7 and the moon is darkened, 8 And the sun and moon will be joined together (by going one into the other or folded up or deprived of their light, etc.) 9 That Day will Man say: "Where is the refuge?" 10 No! There is no refuge! 11 With your Lord alone shall on that day be the place of rest. 12 Man shall on that day be informed of what he sent before and (what he) put off. 13 In fact, people are well-aware of their own soul 14 even though he offers his excuses. 15 MOVE NOT thy tongue in haste, [repeating the words of the revelation:] 16 Surely its collection and recitation are Our responsibility. 17 So, as We recite it, follow its reading. 18 and then, behold, it will be for Us to make its meaning clear. 19 No indeed; but you love the hasty world, 20 and give no thought to the life to come [and to Judgment Day]! 21 Upon that day faces shall be radiant, 22 Looking toward their Lord; 23 And on that day some faces will be ghastly. 24 certain of facing a great calamity. 25 Nay, when (the soul) reaches to the collar bone (i.e. up to the throat in its exit), 26 and people ask, "Is there any wizard [that could save him]?" 27 He will then realise it is the parting, 28 And anguish will be heaped upon anguish: 29 upon that Day the driving shall be to your Lord. 30
