Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Nay! I swear by the day of resurrection. 1 and nay, I swear by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Does man think We shall not put his bones together? 3 Nay, We are able to put together in perfect order the very tips of his fingers. 4 In fact, people want to have eternal life in this world. 5 asking, 'When shall be the Day of Resurrection?' 6 When, then, the sight shall be confounded. 7 And the moon becomes dark, 8 and the sun and moon are brought together, 9 on that Day man will ask, "Where can I escape?" 10 No indeed; not a refuge! 11 Upon that day the recourse shall be to thy Lord. 12 On that Day man will be informed of what he sent forward (of his evil or good deeds), and what he left behind (of his good or evil traditions). 13 Nay, man will be evidence against himself, 14 Though he puts forth his excuses. 15 (O Prophet), do not stir your tongue hastily (to commit the Revelation to memory). 16 Surely its collection and recitation are Our responsibility. 17 Thus, when We recite it, follow thou its wording [with all thy mind]: 18 Nay more, it is for Us to explain it (and make it clear): 19 No indeed; but you love the hasty world, 20 And you have forsaken the Hereafter. 21 Some faces that Day shall be Nadirah (shining and radiant). 22 Looking at their Lord (Allah); 23 And some faces, that Day, will be Basirah (dark, gloomy, frowning, and sad), 24 Thinking that some calamity was about to fall on them; 25 Yes indeed, when the soul will reach up to the throat. 26 And they will say, “Is there any one – any magician?” 27 He will then realise it is the parting, 28 And leg will be joined with another leg (shrouded) 29 on that Day he will be driven towards your Lord! 30
