Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ I CALL TO WITNESS the Day of Resurrection, 1 No! I swear by the reproachful soul! 2 Does man think that We cannot [resurrect him and] bring his bones together again? 3 Surely We are able to reform even his finger-tips. 4 But man would fain deny what is before him. 5 He asks, “When will be the Day of Resurrection?” 6 So when vision is dazzled 7 and the moon eclipsed, 8 And sun and moon are united, 9 Man will say on that Day, "Where is the [place of] escape?" 10 By no means! there shall be no place of refuge! 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat on that day. 12 On that Day the human shall be informed of his former and latter deeds. 13 Nay! Man will be a witness against himself [as his body parts (skin, hands, legs, etc.) will speak about his deeds]. 14 Although he tender his excuses. 15 MOVE NOT thy tongue in haste, [repeating the words of the revelation:] 16 It's gathering and reciting is upon Us. 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation (by Us). 18 Again on Us (devolves) the explaining of it. 19 None except you, O disbelievers – you love what you have, the fleeting one. 20 And you have forsaken the Hereafter. 21 Some faces that Day shall be Nadirah (shining and radiant). 22 and will be looking towards their Lord; 23 and some faces will on that Day be overcast with despair, 24 Thinking that some calamity was about to fall on them; 25 Nay! When it comes up to the throat, 26 and people ask, "Is there any wizard [that could save him]?" 27 and he knows that it is the time of parting; 28 And agony is heaped on agony; 29 That Day the Drive will be (all) to thy Lord! 30
