Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 No! I swear by the reproachful soul! 2 Does man think that We shall not gather his bones? 3 Surely We are able to reform even his finger-tips. 4 Nay! man desires to give the lie to what is before him. 5 He asks, "When will be the Day of Judgment?" 6 When the sight is dazed, 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 And the sun and moon will be joined together (by going one into the other or folded up or deprived of their light, etc.) 9 Man will say on that Day, "Where is the [place of] escape?" 10 No, there shall be no (place of) refuge. 11 The only place of refuge will be with God. 12 Man shall on that day be informed of what he sent before and (what he) put off. 13 Nay, man will be evidence against himself, 14 in spite of all the excuses he may offer. 15 Move not thy tongue with it to hasten it; 16 Verily upon us is the collecting thereof and the reciting thereof. 17 And when We read it, follow thou the reading; 18 Then indeed, to explain its details to you is upon Us. 19 None except you, O disbelievers – you love what you have, the fleeting one. 20 And leave the Hereafter. 21 Some faces on that Day will be fresh and resplendent, 22 Looking toward their Lord; 23 and upon that day faces shall be scowling, 24 Thinking that some calamity was about to fall on them; 25 Never so, for when life withdraws into the clavicula, 26 And they will say, “Is there any one – any magician?” 27 And he (the dying person) will conclude that it was (the time) of departing (death); 28 And one shank is entangled with the other shank. 29 on that Day he will be driven towards your Lord! 30
