Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Nay! I swear by the day of resurrection. 1 And I call the reprehensive soul to witness: 2 What, does the human think We shall never gather his bones? 3 Yes indeed; We have the power to remould even his finger-tips. 4 Rather, the human desires to continue in his immorality, 5 asking [derisively,] "When is that Resurrection Day to be?" 6 When the eye is bewildered, 7 And the moon darkens 8 And sun and moon are united, 9 on that Day the human will ask: 'To (which place) shall I flee' 10 Never so, for there will be no escape. 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat on that day. 12 On that Day, man will be told of all that he has sent before and what he has left behind. 13 In fact man is a witness against himself, 14 Although he tender his excuses. 15 Do not forestall (the revelation before its completion) by acting in haste. 16 Lo! upon Us (resteth) the putting together thereof and the reading thereof. 17 When We have recited it, follow its words attentively; 18 It's explanation is upon Us. 19 Nay, but ye do love the fleeting Now 20 And leave the Hereafter. 21 Some faces that Day shall be Nadirah (shining and radiant). 22 looking towards their Lord; 23 Others will be despondent, 24 certain of facing a great calamity. 25 Nay, when (the soul) reaches to the collar bone (i.e. up to the throat in its exit), 26 and the angels say, "Who will take away his soul, 27 And he is sure that it is the (hour of) parting 28 when his legs are brought together [when affliction is combined with affliction]; 29 Unto thy Lord that day will be the driving. 30
