Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 And by oath of the soul that reproaches itself. 2 Does man (a disbeliever) think that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Yes indeed; We have the power to remould even his finger-tips. 4 Aye! man desireth that he may sin before him. 5 He asks: When is the day of resurrection? 6 So when the sight becomes dazed, 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 and the sun and the moon are joined together, 9 Man will say on that Day, "Where is the [place of] escape?" 10 By no means! there shall be no place of refuge! 11 Unto thy Lord is the recourse that day. 12 Man will be apprised, on that Day, of what he has done and what he has left undone: 13 nay, man shall be a clear proof against himself, 14 And even if he presents all the excuses he has, none will be listened to. 15 Do not move your tongue with it to make haste with it, 16 It's gathering and reciting is upon Us. 17 Wherefore when We recite it, follow thou the reciting thereof. 18 And thereafter verily upon us is the expounding thereof. 19 No! But you love the immediate 20 and give no thought to the life to come [and to Judgment Day]! 21 Some faces on that Day will be fresh and resplendent, 22 Waiting for their Lord. 23 and some faces on that Day will be gloomy, 24 Thou wilt know that some great disaster is about to fall on them. 25 By no means! When it cometh up to the collar-bone. 26 and people ask, "Is there any wizard [that could save him]?" 27 the while he [himself] knows that this is the parting, 28 And anguish will be heaped upon anguish: 29 The drive will be, on that Day, to your Lord (Allah)! 30
