The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
There surely came over man a period of time when he was a thing not worth mentioning. 1 We created man from a drop of mingled fluid so that We might try him; We gave him hearing and sight; 2 We showed him the Way: whether he be grateful or ungrateful (rests on his will). 3 For the unbelievers, We have kept ready chains and fetters and a Blazing Fire. 4 Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of Kafur, 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah drink, making it gush forth abundantly, 6 They fulfill their vow and dread a Day the evil whereof shall be widespreading. 7 and who give food - however great be their own want of it - unto the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, 8 "We only feed you for the sake of God and we do not want any reward or thanks from you. 9 for we fear from our Lord a stern, frownful Day' 10 Wherefore Allah shall preserve them from the evil of that Day, and shall cause them to meet brightness and joy. 11 and will reward them for their steadfastness with Paradise and robes of silk. 12 Reclining there upon couches, they shall see neither the sun nor the moon. 13 the shading branches of trees will come down low over them, and their clusters of fruit, will hang down where they are the easiest to reach. 14 Vessels of silver and goblets of pure crystal will be passed round among them 15 Crystal-clear, made of silver: they will determine the measure thereof (according to their wishes). 16 And in Paradise they will be given to drink cups, filled with a mixture of ginger. 17 from a flowing spring called Salsabil. 18 ۞ There will circulate among them young boys made eternal. When you see them, you would think them [as beautiful as] scattered pearls. 19 And when you look towards it, you will see serenity and a great kingdom. 20 On their bodies will be garments of the finest green silk and brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give them a purest draught to drink. 21 Surely this is a reward for you, and your striving shall be recompensed. 22
