The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there [not] come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned? 1 Surely We have created man from a small life-germ uniting (itself): We mean to try him, so We have made him hearing, seeing. 2 Verily, We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful. 3 Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains, fetters, and a Blaze. 4 Surely the righteous shall drink of a cup the admixture of which is camphor 5 a fountain at which the worshipers of Allah drink and make it gush forth abundantly; 6 Those who fulfil their vows and fear the Day whose evil shall be diffused far and wide, 7 They feed the destitute, orphans, and captives for the love of God, saying, 8 We only feed you for Allah's sake; we desire from you neither reward nor thanks: 9 for we fear from our Lord a stern, frownful Day' 10 So Allah will protect them from the evil of that Day and give them radiance and happiness 11 and recompensed them for their patience with a Garden, and silk; 12 Reclining upon couches, they will find therein neither the heat of the sun nor bitter, biting cold, 13 the shading branches of trees will come down low over them, and their clusters of fruit, will hang down where they are the easiest to reach. 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver and goblets of crystal, 15 Godblets of silver, they shall have filled them to exact measure. 16 And therein they shall be given to drink a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 (Of) a fountain therein which is named Salsabil. 18 ۞ Immortal youths will go about them, when you see them, you would suppose them to be scattered pearls. 19 when thou seest them then thou seest bliss and a great kingdom. 20 Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and of brocades. And adorned they shall be with bracelets of silver: and their Lord shall give them drink a beverage pure. 21 (And it will be said unto them): Lo! this is a reward for you. Your endeavour (upon earth) hath found acceptance. 22
