The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there not been over man a period of time, when he was nothing to be mentioned? 1 Verily, We have created man from Nutfah drops of mixed semen (discharge of man and woman), in order to try him, so We made him hearer, seer. 2 We showed him the Way: whether he be grateful or ungrateful (rests on his will). 3 Lo! We have prepared for disbelievers manacles and carcans and a raging fire. 4 [whereas,] behold, the truly virtuous shall drink from a cup flavoured with the calyx of sweet-smelling flowers: 5 a fountain at which the worshipers of Allah drink and make it gush forth abundantly; 6 These will be the ones who fulfil their vows and dread the Day whose woe shall be spread far and wide; 7 And they feed, for the love of Allah, the indigent, the orphan, and the captive,- 8 (Saying): "We feed you seeking Allah's Countenance only. We wish for no reward, nor thanks from you. 9 We fear the dismal day calamitous from our Lord." 10 So Allah saved them from the evil of that day, and gave them freshness and joy. 11 And reward them, because they were patient, with garden and silk, 12 They will recline therein on couches and they will find neither excessive heat nor cold. 13 And the shade thereof is close upon them, and the bunches of fruit thereof will hang low within their reach. 14 And brought round amongst them will be vessels of silver and also goblets of glass. 15 (Transparent as) glass, made of silver; they have measured them according to a measure. 16 They will drink cups containing (soft flowing) sparkling water 17 from a fountain called Salsabila. 18 ۞ Immortal youths will go about them, when you see them, you would suppose them to be scattered pearls. 19 Whitherto you look around, you will see an abundance of bliss and the glories of a great kingdom. 20 Their raiment will be fine green silk and gold embroidery. Bracelets of silver will they wear. Their Lord will slake their thirst with a pure drink. 21 This is your reward. Your endeavour is fully acknowledged. 22
