The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Surely there hath come upon man a space of time when he was not a thing worth mentioning. 1 We have created the human from a (sperm) drop, a mixture, testing him; We made him to hear and see. 2 We showed him the right path whether he would be grateful or ungrateful. 3 Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains and shackles and a burning fire. 4 Lo! the righteous shall drink of a cup whereof the mixture is of Kafur, 5 a source [of bliss] whereof God's servants shall drink, seeing it flow in a flow abundant. 6 they who keep their vows and fear a Day whose evil is spread; 7 And out of His love, they give food to the needy, the orphan and the prisoner. 8 They say to them, “We give you food, only for the sake of Allah – we do not seek any reward or thanks from you.” 9 We fear the dismal day calamitous from our Lord." 10 So God will protect them from the evil of that day, and grant them happiness and joy, 11 And their recompense shall be Paradise, and silken garments, because they were patient. 12 Reclining there upon couches, they shall see neither the sun nor the moon. 13 And the shades of the (Garden) will come low over them, and the bunches (of fruit), there, will hang low in humility. 14 Goblets of silver are brought round for them, and beakers (as) of glass 15 And crystal clear bottles of silver, of which they will determine the measure themselves. 16 Therein they shall be served a cup flavoured with ginger, 17 (Of) a fountain therein which is named Salsabil. 18 ۞ And boys of everlasting youth will go about attending them. Looking at them you would think that they were pearls dispersed. 19 wherever you look, you will see bliss and a great kingdom: 20 Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and of brocades. And adorned they shall be with bracelets of silver: and their Lord shall give them drink a beverage pure. 21 (And it will be said to them): "Verily, this is a reward for you, and your endeavour has been accepted." 22
