The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has there not been over man a period of time, when he was nothing to be mentioned? 1 Verily We created man out of a drop of intermingled sperm so that We might try him, and We therefore endowed him with hearing and sight. 2 Indeed, We have guided him to the path, he is either grateful or ungrateful. 3 Verily, We have prepared for the disbelievers iron chains, iron collars, and a blazing Fire. 4 The virtuous ones will drink from a cup containing camphor 5 From a spring of which the votaries of God will drink and make it flow in abundance. 6 They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread. 7 they give food, for the love of Him, to the needy, the orphan, the captive: 8 (Saying): "We feed you seeking Allah's Countenance only. We wish for no reward, nor thanks from you. 9 "We only fear a Day of distressful Wrath from the side of our Lord." 10 So Allah will protect them from the evil of that Day and give them radiance and happiness 11 and recompense them for their patience with a Garden, and robes of silk. 12 Reclining upon couches, they will find therein neither the heat of the sun nor bitter, biting cold, 13 And its shade will cover them, and its fruit clusters brought down low for them. 14 And there shall be made to go round about them vessels of silver and goblets which are of glass, 15 crystal-like, [but] of silver - the measure whereof they alone will determine. 16 and they will be given a cup to drink flavoured with ginger, 17 drawn from a spring (in Paradise) called Salsabil. 18 ۞ There boys of everlasting youth shall go about attending them: when you see them, you would think that they are scattered pearls. 19 And when thou lookest them thou shalt behold delight and a dominion magnificent. 20 Upon those [blest] will be garments of green silk and brocade; and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. And their Sustainer will them to drink of a drink most pure. 21 [And it will be said], "Indeed, this is for you a reward, and your effort has been appreciated." 22
