The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there not been over Man a long period of Time, when he was nothing - (not even) mentioned? 1 We created man from a drop of mingled fluid so that We might try him; We gave him hearing and sight; 2 We showed him the Way: whether he be grateful or ungrateful (rests on his will). 3 Verily We! We have gotten ready for the infidels chains and collars and a Blaze. 4 Surely the righteous shall drink of a cup the admixture of which is camphor 5 A spring of which the [righteous] servants of Allah will drink; they will make it gush forth in force [and abundance]. 6 They fulfill their vow and dread a Day the evil whereof shall be widespreading. 7 and who give food - however great be their own want of it - unto the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, 8 [saying, in their hearts,] "We feed you for the sake of God alone: we desire no recompense from you, nor thanks: 9 Truly, we fear from our Lord a woefully grim Day." 10 So Allah will protect them from the evil of that Day and give them radiance and happiness 11 and recompensed them for their patience with a Garden, and silk; 12 Where they will recline on couches feeling neither heat of the sun nor intense cold. 13 The shade thereof is close upon them and the clustered fruits thereof bow down. 14 They will be served with silver dishes and crystal clear goblets. 15 And crystal clear bottles of silver, of which they will determine the measure themselves. 16 And in Paradise they will be given to drink cups, filled with a mixture of ginger. 17 Which is a spring in Paradise called Salsabeel. 18 ۞ Immortal youths will go about them, when you see them, you would suppose them to be scattered pearls. 19 And when you look there (in Paradise), you will see a delight (that cannot be imagined), and a great dominion. 20 Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and of brocades. And adorned they shall be with bracelets of silver: and their Lord shall give them drink a beverage pure. 21 Behold, this is your recompense and your endeavour has been appreciated. 22
