The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
There was certainly a time when there was no mention of the human being. 1 Verily, it is We who have created man out of a drop of sperm intermingled, so that We might try him [in his later life]: and therefore We made him a being endowed with hearing and sight. 2 Verily, We have shown him the way: [and it rests with him to prove himself] either grateful or ungrateful. 3 We have indeed kept prepared chains, and shackles and a blazing fire for the disbelievers. 4 the righteous shall drink from a cup mixed with the coolness of kafur, 5 a spring from which God's servants will drink, making it gush forth in branches. 6 (Because) they perform the vow and fear a day whereof the evil is wide-spreading, 7 And they feed with food, for love of Him, the needy, and the orphan and the captive. 8 (Saying): "We feed you seeking Allah's Countenance only. We wish for no reward, nor thanks from you. 9 behold, we stand in awe of our Sustainer's judgment on a distressful, fateful Day!" 10 So God will protect them from the evil of that day, and grant them happiness and joy, 11 For their patience, He will reward them with Paradise and silk. 12 Reclining therein upon couches, they will find there neither (heat of) a sun nor bitter cold. 13 the shading branches of trees will come down low over them, and their clusters of fruit, will hang down where they are the easiest to reach. 14 And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and goblets of crystal,- 15 Crystal-clear, made of silver: they will determine the measure thereof (according to their wishes). 16 And therein they shall be given to drink of a cup whereof the admixture will be ginger. 17 From a fountain therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ And round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness): If thou seest them, thou wouldst think them scattered Pearls. 19 When you look around, you will see delights and great dominion. 20 they will wear green garments of fine silk and rich brocade. They will be adorned with silver bracelets. And their Lord will give them a pure drink. 21 This will be their reward and their efforts will be appreciated. 22
