The Human (Al-Insan)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Indeed there has been a time for man, when even his name did not exist anywhere. 1 Surely We have created man from a small life-germ uniting (itself): We mean to try him, so We have made him hearing, seeing. 2 We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful. 3 Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains, fetters, and a Blaze. 4 The virtuous shall drink from a cup tempered with camphor water. 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah will drink, causing it to gush forth abundantly. 6 They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread. 7 And feed the needy for the love of Him, and the orphans and the captives, 8 (saying): “We feed you only for Allah's sake; we do not seek of you any recompense or thanks, 9 Lo! we fear from our Lord a day of frowning and of fate. 10 So God has guarded them from the evil of that day, and has procured them radiancy and gladness, 11 And gave them Paradise and silk clothes, as a reward for their patience. 12 Reclining therein on raised thrones, they will see there neither the excessive heat of the sun, nor the excessive bitter cold, (as in Paradise there is no sun and no moon). 13 The shadows will bend over them, and low will hang the clusters of grapes. 14 They will be served with silver dishes and crystal clear goblets. 15 Crystal-clear, made of silver: they will determine the measure thereof (according to their wishes). 16 And in Paradise they will be given to drink cups, filled with a mixture of ginger. 17 from a spring named salsabil. 18 ۞ They will be served by immortal youths who look like scattered pearls. 19 And when you look there (in Paradise), you will see a delight (that cannot be imagined), and a great dominion. 20 They [i.e., the virtuous] shall be attired in garments of fine green silk and rich brocade and will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure wine to drink. 21 It will be said to them, “This is your reward – indeed your efforts have been appreciated.” 22
