The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Indeed, there came upon the human a period of time when he was an unremembered thing. 1 We created man from a drop of mingled fluid so that We might try him; We gave him hearing and sight; 2 We have indeed shown him the way – whether he is grateful or ingrate. 3 Indeed, We have prepared for the disbelievers chains and shackles and a blaze. 4 Surely the pious shall drink of a cup whose mixture is camphor, 5 From a fountain whence the bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to gush abundantly. 6 They fulfill their vow and dread a Day the evil whereof shall be widespreading. 7 they give food, despite their love for it, to the poor and orphans and captives, 8 (Saying),"We feed you for the sake of Allah alone: no reward do we desire from you, nor thanks. 9 we fear from our Lord a Day that shall be long and distressful.” 10 God will certainly rescue them from the terror of that day and will meet them with joy and pleasure. 11 And because they were patient and constant, He will reward them with a Garden and (garments of) silk. 12 Reclining therein on raised thrones, they will see there neither the excessive heat of the sun, nor the excessive bitter cold, (as in Paradise there is no sun and no moon). 13 The shades of Paradise will bend over them, and its fruits will be brought within their easy reach; 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver and goblets of crystal, 15 And crystal clear bottles of silver, of which they will determine the measure themselves. 16 And they shall be given to drink from a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 From a fountain therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ And round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness): If thou seest them, thou wouldst think them scattered Pearls. 19 When you see them, you see bliss, and a great Kingdom. 20 they will wear green garments of fine silk and rich brocade. They will be adorned with silver bracelets. And their Lord will give them a pure drink. 21 'See, this is your recompense, your striving is thanked' 22
