The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Surely there hath come upon man a space of time when he was not a thing worth mentioning. 1 Verily We! We created man from a sperm of mixtures, that We might prove him, wherefore We made him hearing, seeing. 2 We have indeed shown him the way – whether he is grateful or ingrate. 3 We have prepared chains, shackles, and flaming fire (for the disbelievers). 4 the righteous shall drink from a cup mixed with the coolness of kafur, 5 a fountain at which the worshipers of Allah drink and make it gush forth abundantly; 6 The servants of God fulfill their vows and are afraid of the day in which there will be widespread terror. 7 they give food, despite their love for it, to the poor and orphans and captives, 8 We only feed you for Allah's sake; we desire from you neither reward nor thanks: 9 "We only fear a Day of distressful Wrath from the side of our Lord." 10 Wherefore Allah shall preserve them from the evil of that Day, and shall cause them to meet brightness and joy. 11 And because they were patient and constant, He will reward them with a Garden and (garments of) silk. 12 Reclining therein on raised couches, they shall find therein neither (the severe heat of) the sun nor intense cold. 13 since its [blissful] shades will come down low over them, and low will hang down its clusters of fruit, most easy to reach. 14 Rounds of silver cups and silver beakers, looking like glass, will be presented upon them. 15 Glass made from silver, which the servers have filled up to the measure. 16 And therein they shall be given to drink a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 From a fountain therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ They will be served by immortal youths who look like scattered pearls. 19 Whitherto you look around, you will see an abundance of bliss and the glories of a great kingdom. 20 Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and thick silk interwoven with gold, and they shall be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall make them drink a pure drink. 21 'See, this is your recompense, your striving is thanked' 22
