The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Indeed, there came upon the human a period of time when he was an unremembered thing. 1 We have created the human from a (sperm) drop, a mixture, testing him; We made him to hear and see. 2 Verily We! We shewed him the way; then he becometh either thankful or ingrate. 3 Verily We! We have gotten ready for the infidels chains and collars and a Blaze. 4 Indeed the virtuous will drink from a cup, containing a mixture of Kafoor. 5 a source [of bliss] whereof God's servants shall drink, seeing it flow in a flow abundant. 6 They fulfill vows and fear a day the evil of which shall be spreading far and wide. 7 They feed the destitute, orphans, and captives for the love of God, saying, 8 [Saying], "We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude. 9 Indeed, We fear from our Lord a Day austere and distressful." 10 Therefore Allah will guard them from the evil of that day and cause them to meet with ease and happiness; 11 And because they were patient and constant, He will reward them with a Garden and (garments of) silk. 12 There they will recline on elevated couches and will be subjected neither to the burning heat of the sun nor to bitter cold. 13 And close upon them will be the shades thereof, and low will hang the clusters thereof greatly. 14 Goblets of silver are brought round for them, and beakers (as) of glass 15 Glass made from silver, which the servers have filled up to the measure. 16 They will drink cups containing (soft flowing) sparkling water 17 [From] a fountain within Paradise named Salsabeel. 18 ۞ There wait on them immortal youths, whom, when thou seest, thou wouldst take for scattered pearls. 19 wherever you look, you will see bliss and a great kingdom: 20 Upon those [blest] will be garments of green silk and brocade; and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. And their Sustainer will them to drink of a drink most pure. 21 This is your reward. Your endeavour is fully acknowledged. 22
