The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
There surely came over man a period of time when he was a thing not worth mentioning. 1 Verily We created Man from a drop of mingled sperm, in order to try him: So We gave him (the gifts), of Hearing and Sight. 2 Verily, We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful. 3 For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire. 4 But the righteous shall drink of a goblet mixed with camphor; 5 From a spring of which the votaries of God will drink and make it flow in abundance. 6 They perform (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil flies far and wide. 7 And out of His love, they give food to the needy, the orphan and the prisoner. 8 (Saying): "We feed you for the sake of God, desiring neither recompense nor thanks. 9 We are afraid of our Lord and the bitterly distressful day". 10 So Allah will save them from the evil of that Day and has secured for them radiance and joyfulness, 11 And reward them, because they were patient, with garden and silk, 12 Reclining therein on raised thrones, they will see there neither the excessive heat of the sun, nor the excessive bitter cold, (as in Paradise there is no sun and no moon). 13 And close down upon them (shall be) its shadows, and its fruits shall be made near (to them), being easy to reach. 14 Rounds of silver cups and silver beakers, looking like glass, will be presented upon them. 15 And crystal clear bottles of silver, of which they will determine the measure themselves. 16 There will they drink a cup flavoured with ginger 17 From a fountain therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ And round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness): If thou seest them, thou wouldst think them scattered Pearls. 19 wherever you look, you will see bliss and a great kingdom: 20 Upon those [blest] will be garments of green silk and brocade; and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. And their Sustainer will them to drink of a drink most pure. 21 (And it will be said unto them): Lo! this is a reward for you. Your endeavour (upon earth) hath found acceptance. 22
