The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Indeed there has been a time for man, when even his name did not exist anywhere. 1 We created man from a drop of mingled fluid so that We might try him; We gave him hearing and sight; 2 Verily, We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful. 3 Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains, fetters, and a Blaze. 4 Lo! the righteous shall drink of a cup whereof the mixture is of Kafur, 5 which flows from a spring from which the servants of God will drink. 6 They keep their vows and fear a day the woe of which will spread far and wide; 7 They feed the destitute, orphans, and captives for the love of God, saying, 8 (Saying): We feed you, for the sake of Allah only. We wish for no reward nor thanks from you; 9 for we fear from our Lord a frowning day, inauspicious. 10 God will certainly rescue them from the terror of that day and will meet them with joy and pleasure. 11 And gave them Paradise and silk clothes, as a reward for their patience. 12 There they will recline on elevated couches and will be subjected neither to the burning heat of the sun nor to bitter cold. 13 Near them shall be its shades with its clusters hung gently down, 14 And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and cups of crystal, 15 Clear glasses [made] from silver of which they have determined the measure. 16 They will drink cups containing (soft flowing) sparkling water 17 A spring there, called Salsabil. 18 ۞ There boys of everlasting youth shall go about attending them: when you see them, you would think that they are scattered pearls. 19 When thou seest, thou wilt see there bliss and high estate. 20 On their bodies will be garments of the finest green silk and brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give them a purest draught to drink. 21 Surely this is a reward for you, and your striving shall be recompensed. 22
