The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Has there [not] come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned? 1 Verily We! We created man from a sperm of mixtures, that We might prove him, wherefore We made him hearing, seeing. 2 We showed him the Way: whether he be grateful or ungrateful (rests on his will). 3 Indeed, for the unbelievers We have prepared chains, fetters and a Blazing (Fire). 4 Lo! the righteous shall drink of a cup whereof the mixture is of Kafur, 5 a fountain whereat drink the servants of God, making it to gush forth plenteously. 6 They perform (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil flies far and wide. 7 and who give food - however great be their own want of it - unto the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, 8 (saying): “We feed you only for Allah's sake; we do not seek of you any recompense or thanks, 9 Truly, we fear from our Lord a woefully grim Day." 10 So God will protect them from the evil of that day, and grant them happiness and joy, 11 For their patience, He will reward them with Paradise and silk. 12 Reclining therein upon couches, they will find there neither (heat of) a sun nor bitter cold. 13 Near them shall be its shades with its clusters hung gently down, 14 And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and cups of crystal, 15 Crystal-clear, made of silver. They will determine the measure thereof according to their wishes. 16 And they shall be made to drink therein a cup the admixture of which shall be ginger, 17 drawn from a spring (in Paradise) called Salsabil. 18 ۞ Immortal youths will go about them, when you see them, you would suppose them to be scattered pearls. 19 And when you see there, you shall see blessings and a great kingdom. 20 Upon the inhabitants will be green garments of fine silk and brocade. And they will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a purifying drink. 21 "This in truth is your recompense, and acceptance of your endeavours." 22
