The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Indeed, there came upon the human a period of time when he was an unremembered thing. 1 Indeed We have created man from mixed semen; in order to test him – We therefore made him hearing, knowing. 2 Surely We guided him upon the way whether he be thankful or unthankful. 3 For the unbelievers, We have kept ready chains and fetters and a Blazing Fire. 4 Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of Kafur, 5 a source [of bliss] whereof God's servants shall drink, seeing it flow in a flow abundant. 6 They fulfill their vow and dread a Day the evil whereof shall be widespreading. 7 And they give food out of love for Him to the poor and the orphan and the captive: 8 saying, "We feed you for the sake of God alone, we seek neither recompense nor thanks from you. 9 “Indeed we fear from our Lord a day which is extremely bitter, most severe.” 10 So Allah shall guard them against the woe of that Day, and will procure them freshness and joy, 11 and will reward them for all their patience in adversity with a garden [of bliss] and with [garments of] silk. 12 Reclining there upon couches, they shall see neither the sun nor the moon. 13 And near above them are its shades, and its [fruit] to be picked will be lowered in compliance. 14 Goblets of silver are brought round for them, and beakers (as) of glass 15 Glass made from silver, which the servers have filled up to the measure. 16 There are they watered with a cup whereof the mixture is of Zanjabil, 17 from a fountain called Salsabila. 18 ۞ And immortal youths will wait upon them: when thou seest them, thou wouldst deem them to be scattered pearls; 19 When you look around, you will see delights and great dominion. 20 Upon them there will be garments of green silk, rich brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure beverage to drink. 21 "Verily this is a Reward for you, and your Endeavour is accepted and recognised." 22
