In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the winds (or angels or the Messengers of Allah) sent forth one after another. 1 by (the angels) as swift as blowing winds, 2 Then by oath of those that lift and carry. 3 And by the Verses (of the Quran) that separate the right from the wrong. 4 And by the angels that bring the revelations to the Messengers, 5 As justification or warning, 6 Surely, what you are promised must come to pass. 7 Then when the stars become dim; 8 and when the sky is rent asunder 9 And when the mountains are made into dust and blown away. 10 And when the messengers' time has come... 11 For what Day are these (portents) deferred? 12 To the Day of Decision. 13 And what will convey unto thee what the Day of Decision is! - 14 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth. 15 Have We not destroyed the earlier generations? 16 And We shall cause those of later times to follow them. 17 Thus deal We ever with the guilty. 18 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 19 Did We not create you from a base fluid 20 which We then let remain in [the womb's] firm keeping 21 until an appointed time? 22 Then We facilitated (your birth). How well do We calculate! 23 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle 25 for both the living and the dead? 26 And made therein lofty mountains, and given you to drink of sweet water? 27 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 28 Depart to that you cried was lies! 29 Walk on to the covering having three branches, 30 Neither shading nor availing against the flame. 31 Lo! it throweth up sparks like the castles, 32 as black camels. 33 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 34 This is a Day they will not speak, 35 Nor given leave to make excuses. 36 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 37 That will be a Day of Decision! We have brought you and the men of old together! 38 If now ye have any craft, try that craft upon Me. 39 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 40
