Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the loosed ones successively 1 by (the angels) as swift as blowing winds, 2 And by the winds that scatter clouds and rain; 3 And by the Verses (of the Quran) that separate the right from the wrong. 4 And those [angels] who deliver a message 5 To excuse or to warn, 6 surely that which you are promised is about to fall! 7 When the stars lose their light, 8 and when the sky is rent asunder, 9 The mountains will be blown away as dust. 10 and when the Messengers' time is set 11 To which Day has this task been deferred? 12 For the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false]! 13 And what do you know, what the Day of Decision is! 14 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 15 Have We not destroyed the earlier generations? 16 and make others settle after them in their land? 17 Even thus shall We deal with the guilty. 18 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 19 Have We not created you from a fluid (held) despicable?- 20 which We then let remain in [the womb's] firm keeping 21 For a known calculated term. 22 See that We had the power to do so. Great indeed is Our power to do what We will. 23 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle, 25 For the living and the dead among you? 26 And made therein mountains standing firm, lofty (in stature); and provided for you water sweet (and wholesome)? 27 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 28 Proceed now towards that which you were wont to deny as false; 29 "Depart ye to a Shadow (of smoke ascending) in three columns, 30 which neither provides (cooling) shade nor protection against the flames; 31 that shoots sparks like dry faggots, 32 (Or) as it might be camels of bright yellow hue. 33 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 34 that Day on which they will not [be able to] utter a word, 35 nor will they be allowed to proffer excuses. 36 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 37 This is the Day of Decision, We have brought you and the men of old together. 38 If you have any plans, use them. 39 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 40
