Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who are sent consecutively, 1 And the winds that blow violently 2 and raise (clouds) and scatter them around, 3 separating one from another, 4 and those (angels) dropping, reminding 5 As justification or warning, 6 Surely what you are promised shall come to pass. 7 Then when the stars become dim; 8 And when the sky is riven asunder, 9 And when the mountains are blown away; 10 And when the time of the Noble Messengers arrives. 11 If one asks, "To which day have such calamitous events been postponed?" 12 For the Day of Sorting out. 13 And what shall teach thee what is the Day of Decision? 14 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 15 Did We not destroy the former peoples? 16 and let the latter follow them? 17 In this wise We do with the culprits. 18 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 19 Did We not create you from a weak water, 20 Then We placed it in a secure resting-place, 21 For a period (of gestation), determined (according to need)? 22 We determined, how excellent a Determiner are We! 23 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 24 Have We not made the earth a housing 25 For the living and the dead, 26 And placed in it lofty and broad stablisers, and gave you sweet water to drink? 27 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 28 “Move towards what you used to deny!” 29 Walk on to the covering having three branches, 30 that will offer no [cooling] shade and will be of no avail against the flame 31 Surely it sends up sparks like palaces, 32 (Or) as it might be camels of bright yellow hue. 33 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 34 This is the day on which they shall not speak, 35 Nor will it be permitted for them to make an excuse. 36 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 37 Such is the Day of Decision. We will gather you with the ancients. 38 Now, if ye have a trick (or plot), use it against Me! 39 Woe on the day unto the beliers! 40
