Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who are sent consecutively, 1 By the raging hurricanes, 2 By those which cause earth's vegetation to revive; 3 thus separating [right and wrong] with all clarity, 4 Then spread abroad a Message, 5 Whether of Justification or of Warning;- 6 surely, that which you have been promised is about to fall! 7 When the stars are extinguished, 8 And when the sky is riven asunder, 9 And when the mountains are made into dust and blown away. 10 And when the time of the Noble Messengers arrives. 11 For what Day was it postponed? 12 For the Day of Decision. 13 And what will make you comprehend what the day of decision is? 14 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 15 Did We not destroy many a nation of the earlier times? 16 We will now cause the later ones to follow them: 17 As such shall We deal with the sinners. 18 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 19 Did We not create you out of a humble fluid 20 and place it in a secure place 21 Till an appointed term, 22 And We determined [it], and excellent [are We] to determine. 23 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 24 Have We not caused the earth to hold within itself 25 Of the living and the dead? 26 And placed therein high mountains and given you to drink sweet water therein? 27 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 28 (It will be said:) "Depart ye to that which ye used to reject as false! 29 "Depart ye to a Shadow (of smoke ascending) in three columns, 30 which neither provides (cooling) shade nor protection against the flames; 31 "Indeed it throws about sparks (huge) as Forts, 32 As if they were tawny camels. 33 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 34 That will be a Day when they shall not speak (during some part of it), 35 And they will not be permitted to put forth any excuse. 36 On that day, woe would be those who have rejected God's revelations! 37 This is the Day of Decision, We have brought you and the men of old together. 38 So if you have a plan, plan against Me (now). 39 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 40
