The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
