The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the great news - 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
