The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the Great News 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
