The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 About which they differ? 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 Recompense fitted! 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
