The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the Great News 2 About which they differ? 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 Requital corresponding. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
