The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 Requital corresponding. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
