The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 About which they differ? 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
