The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
