The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
