The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
