The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
