The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what ask they? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
