The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the Great News 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 except boiling water and pus 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
