The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And made the night a cover. 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
