The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the great event, 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
