The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
