The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 Living therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
