The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
