The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 About which they have been differing? 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 Requital corresponding. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
